Northern Colorado Community Fiber

On a mission to bring fiber internet to all of Larimer County through our alliance of community-driven organizations.

NOCO Community Fiber is a partnership between municipally-owned communications utilities and the county they empower, dedicated to the delivery of reliable, high-quality, affordable, and fiber-optic broadband. We have demonstrated that ubiquitous, affordable, high-quality access to critical resources is an achievable goal when communities collaborate on creative solutions, and profitability is removed from the equation.

We’re honored to have received Fiber Broadband Association’s prestigious 2023 Star Award. Each year at the Fiber Connect conference, the Fiber Broadband Association celebrates outstanding contributions to the fiber industry. The Star Award specifically recognizes a person, community, or company that has gone above and beyond what is expected in the advancement of fiber internet to the home.

OUR STORY

The Front Range cities of NOCO Community Fiber struggled for years requesting equitable internet access for all of their citizens from private industry. Eventually understanding that many members of their respective communities were considered not profitable enough to adequately serve and would never appear on a roadmap for modern-level service, they began to research their own solutions. Each carved out a path to futureproof their communities, learning from other pioneers in the public broadband space. In less than a decade, the three cities in Larimer County were able to stand up robust and thriving communications utilities capable of delivering multigigabit symmetrical fiber optic connectivity to every address within their municipalities. Now these cities have come together in partnership with Larimer County, and other regional utility collaboration leaders, to expand communication services to surrounding areas serving not only urban, but sub-urban and rural populations.

NOCO Community Fiber understands that “community” is not defined by the limits of a city – our community is made up of all of the people in our territory. We are all Northern Coloradoans, and we work together, we play together, we study together – and , we all deserve to have access to affordable, high-quality internet.

NOCO Community Fiber knows that when communities come together to dedicate their resources to solving problems and serving their citizens to the best of their abilities, anything is possible.
